Yes, some Republicans are racists, the proof is not hard to find. And some Democrats are genocidaires. Pot, kettle, black?
The Biden-Harris administration's support for a major 21st Century genocide will go down in history as one of the greatest moral failures of our time.
Vice-President J.D. Vance says that the adult young Republicans who wrote all these racist chat messages were just kids. Of course, they are not. But even if so, where did they get their racism from? Of course, dismissing racism and its deadly seriousness is par for the course for Trump and many of his supporters.
But too many Democrats get caught up in performative self-righteousness when it comes to Trump (what Republicans refer to when they dishonestly chant “TDS,” but they are not 100% wrong) and easily forget that the standard bearers for their party, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, bankrolled and politically supported a genocide in Gaza.
Most political analysts have concluded that the Democratic leaders’ full throttle support of Israel’s conduct in Gaza played an important role--it was not the only factor, but a major one--in Trump’s narrow victory.
So yes, Trump is a danger to democracy, his methods are fascistic, he disdains our Constitution, and he deserves the strongest and stiffest resistance that can be mounted against him. Fortunately, that resistance is growing steadily.
At the same time, Democrats everywhere need to be a bit more modest, self-reflective, and self-critical about their party’s moral fiber, or lack of it, in light of their leadership’s complicity with war crimes in Gaza. (Really, more than just a bit.)
In the end, the slaughter of tens of thousands of non-combatant civilians, including thousands of innocent children, is hardly a credit to their “side of the aisle” and they cannot claim the moral upper hand--especially if it turns out that Trump will go down in history, rightly or not, as the president who at least temporarily stopped the immediate slaughter.
I am confident that the unwillingness to stop the killing in Gaza will be seen by historians as one of the greatest moral failures of the 21st Century, just as the genocides in Rwanda and Bosnia were seen that way in the 20th Century.
More on other subjects soon.

Thank you, Michael. You're right, of course. Democrats have much to atone for.
